photography await you in the different regions of the country. You can still feel the magic of the ancient high culture of the Mayas in many
places in the country.
Are you a beginner who would like to deepen your photographic knowledge in unusual places, or an advanced user
looking for new, unknown photo motifs? Then this trip is just right for you!
On our journey we will always be in the right place at the right time to photograph the respective motifs in the perfect light. Our shootings
focus on landscapes with different flora and fauna, Mayan cultural sites, colonial cities and the people of Mexico with their traditional customs and cultures.
The photo tour took place only during the Mexican winter, when the country has comfortable
and dry temperatures, making it the best time for our trip. The Caribbean Sea will appear
in intense turquoise tones under a blue sky, the jungles of Chiapas will shine in lush
green and the mountain landscapes of Oaxaca will allow far-reaching views in the dry season.
Due to the high demand, since the rainy season also provides breathtaking photo moments,
this photo tour will also take place in the rainy season .
A photo trip through Mexico will definitely make your photographer's heart beat faster!

TRAVEL PROGRAM
Day 1:
Flight to Cancun
BIENVENIDOS !:
We chose to start the tour in Cancun because the flight connections are much easier and cheaper than Mexico City.
After individual pickup at the airport in Cancún, we check into our hotel near the Caribbean Sea.
In the course of the tour we will not always be so spoiled and sometimes have to go to a hostel, but here too we will always have a room to ourselves.
We also think this is very important because you need a retreat to develop your ideas.
In the afternoon we will meet and get to know each other all together. If you have any questions, I am always at your disposal.
This not only on this afternoon, so please always come to me for questions.
This afternoon I will also introduce you to the photo tour through the unique Mexico and a workshop on travel and night photography.
From now on there are two exciting photo adventure weeks ahead of us. Afterwards we photograph our first sunset in Mexico.
During dinner together and exciting conversations, we get in the mood for the upcoming adventure.
Welcome to Cancun for our Mexico photography tour
📷 Day 2 - Cancún – Tulum
Voladores de Papantla & Ruins of El Tajín:
This morning we start our journey to the famous Caribbean coastal town of Tulum. After arriving early noon we will visit the "Voladores de Papantla",
the flying men of Papantla. During their breathtaking artistic performance, four men abseil headfirst from a rotating platform.
In the late afternoon we meet our friends again, the "Voladores", for a private photo shoot. They will play music for us in different colorful costumes
and bring us closer to the customs and traditions of their region. The first special highlight awaits us tonight.
After midnight we make our way to the Tulum ruins to be the only visitors to photograph the Milky Way over the Mayan temples on the Caribbean Sea.
📷 DAY 3 - Tulum – Muyil
Our exciting shoot in the ruins of Tulum isn't over yet. Today we will photograph the sunrise in this mystical
place. After we have explored the Mayan temples in daylight, our well-deserved breakfast awaits us at the hotel. However,
it is also possible to return to the hotel before sunrise. After a well-deserved break, we take photos of the ruins of Muyil in the jungle
in the afternoon. A magical place where few tourists get lost. Afterwards we meet a model in the traditional costume of the Mayas, the
"huipil", in a nearby jungle. During a hike through the dense green, we will portray the young Mayan woman in this very special ambience.
📷 Day 4 - Tulum – Valladolid
Boat Ride in Riviera Maya & Spiritual Mayan cenote suytun:
In the not too early morning we take a boat trip to photograph the Mayan ruins of Tulum
from a whole new perspective. Here we will discover two more hidden temples from the sea,
which are not accessible to visitors over land. After this wonderful excursion we continue to a
cenote near the colonial city of Valladolid. Here we experience a spiritual Mayan ceremony in the middle
of the underground cave, which is flooded with rays of light from the ceiling. We then reach Valladolid, where
the historic center of the old town can be explored on foot in the late afternoon and evening.
📷 Day 5 - Wildlife & the Lagoons of the 7 Colors
Río Lagartos – San Felipe – Valladolid:
The next morning we start a day trip to the fishing village of Río Lagartos
on the northern coast of the Yucatán. Here we experience another highlight of Mexico,
the pink lagoons of Las Coloradas, where we can take impressive landscape photos.
In the early afternoon we take a photo walk in the fishing village of San Felipe,
which is known for its colorful wooden houses and friendly residents. In the late
afternoon we go on a boat tour together with the Mexican wildlife and landscape
photographer William Ramon Cruz Canto to observe flamingos, crocodiles and other
coastal inhabitants. During the sunset we are particularly on the lookout for flamingos
to photograph them against the light. Afterwards we travel back to Valladolid.
📷 Wildlife & the Lagoons of the 7 Colors - Mexico photography tour
Blue cenotes where you will even dive and take underwater photos accompanied by a diving instructor and traditional life?
📷 Day 6 - Valladolid – Chichén Itzá
Valladolid – Chichén Itzá:
Today's tour begins with a visit to a Mayan family,
to experience traditional life in rural Yucatán.
Then there is the photographic exploration of an enchanting
Cenote from Valladolid. This is off the beaten track and
is hardly visited by other travelers. The huge underground cave with its azure
and clear water will inspire you. We take our lunch in a traditional
restaurant run by the local Mayans. You can watch live
How to make tortillas by hand. In the late afternoon we reach Chichén Itzá,
where we spend the night in a resort hotel right next to the majestic ruins. In the evening
we dive again into the fascinating topic of night photography and will visit the Mayan temple "Observatorio"
of Chichén Itzá under the stars.
📷 Day 7 - Sunrise at Chichen Itza & rural Yucatan
A very special photography highlight awaits us today, as we will photograph the main temple "Kukulcán" of
Chichén Itzá at sunrise. After we have explored the ruins and the Yucatan's largest Mayan ball court "Juego de Pelota" in daylight,
we have earned a hearty breakfast. In the late morning we head south towards Mérida, where we will spend the night in a Spanish colonial hacienda.
The region is known for its expressive dance performances in colorful traditional costumes. We have time until dinner for a workshop on the topic "Night
photography - image processing in Lightroom and Photoshop". Afterwards we will enjoy Yucatecan specialties of the Mayan Peninsula together.
📷 Day 8 Folklórico from Mérida - Mérida – Uxmal
Folklórico from Mérida with colonial sights that will provide the best backdrop
This morning we have free time to relax on the hacienda grounds, enjoy a traditional
Mayan massage or do another workshop in Photoshop. In the afternoon we experience a very unusual and colorful
photo shoot. We photograph a private performance by the Ballet Folklórico from Mérida, showing various dances in Yucatec costumes.
Afterwards there is still time to shoot some portraits in the antique rooms and the agave fields of the hacienda. With new colorful
photos in our luggage, we continue our journey to Uxmal in the afternoon, where we will visit the fascinating ruins the next morning.
We will stay in a resort hotel right next to the ruins of Uxmal.
📷 Day 9 - Uxmal - Palenque
Mexico has more than 30 World Heritage Sites one of which we will see today on our way to Palenque
After breakfast, we will be the first visitors to enter the ruins of Uxmal at 8:00 sharp. They are among the largest
and most beautiful in Mexico and are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Their detailed decorations clearly distinguish
them from the other Maya dynasties. We have time until noon to explore the pyramids and palaces with their decorative facades.
Now we are embarking on a new photographic adventure as today we leave the Mayan Yucatán Peninsula heading south. After a
seven-hour drive we reach Palenque in the state of Chiapas in the evening. During our bus trip there is the opportunity for several photo stops.
📷 Day 10 CHIAPAS – Palenque – Urwald Chiapas
The jungle of Chiapas with its mighty waterfalls opens up to us
This day begins our journey into the Chiapas jungle where we will first visit a series of wild waterfalls.
The cascades with their turquoise pools are scattered in the dense green of the jungle and are only visited
by a few travelers. Here we have the opportunity to create beautiful long exposure photos with a tripod and
filters before continuing our journey even deeper into the jungle of Chiapas. In the late afternoon we reach
our eco-lodge in the village of the Lacandon Maya. With a group of Mayans we take a hike to the nearby lagoon.
We will have the unique opportunity to photograph the Lacandon Islands in their white tunic while riding in the traditional canoe "Kayuco".
📷 Day 11 - Jungle Chiapas - Palenque
Today we will spend the whole day with the last Maya Lacandons.
During the colonial period,
they remained undiscovered in the depths of the jungle, allowing them to carry on the traditions
of their ancestors undisturbed. In the morning we visit the last shaman who will perform a private Mayan
ceremony for us. To get to know the villagers and their culture better, we will visit some Lacandons in their homes.
In the afternoon we explore the Lacandon jungle together with a group of Mayans. There are wonderful photo opportunities
in the dense green of the jungle with its huge tropical trees. After this adventurous excursion we thank the Mayans for
the wonderful day and drive back to Palenque
📷 Palenque – Oaxaca
Continue to Oaxaca
After breakfast we drive to Villahermosa Airport for our final destination together,
the culturally rich state of Oaxaca. Our flight departs in the early afternoon and takes us via Mexico City
to Oaxaca de Juárez, where we will arrive in the evening. After dinner in the colonial center of the city, we
look forward to our Oaxaca photo adventure, which promises to capture unique landscapes and distinctive people.
📷 Day 13 - Hierve el Agua – Oaxaca
Petrified Waterfalls
Today we leave before dawn to the Petrified Falls. The rock formations appearing in yellow and brown tones, which were created over thousands
of years by spring water containing minerals, extend over a mountain landscape with breathtaking panoramic views. We will photograph the impressive
landscape from different perspectives even before other visitors have reached the destination. Back in Oaxaca, professional Mexican portrait photographer
Fernando Cruz will accompany us in the afternoon. Fernando is a master of light production and will conduct a workshop on the subject with us. We will do
photo shoots with models in different Oaxacan costumes in the historical center of Oaxaca. This and the following day will be very special, because apart from the
festivals of Oaxaca you will hardly have the opportunity to get to know the variety of the colorful traditional costumes of the region.
📷 Day 14 - Oaxaca & Surroundings Traditional handicrafts & Oaxacan costumes
This morning we visit two artisan families in southern Oaxaca. In Santo Tomás Jalieza,
several women will show us the art of weaving typical of their village. We then meet the amazing Oaxacan artist
José Antonio, who despite his blindness creates unique works of art out of clay. In the afternoon we meet the photographer Fernando
again in the fields of Oaxaca to have another special opportunity to photograph women and men of the region in their typical costumes.
In the evening we will enjoy Oaxacan specialties at a farewell dinner and relive the exciting experiences of our photo tour with a glass of Mezcal.
