In their jungle setting, which is surrounded by jungle fog and reflecting howler monkeys and parrots, these ruins have a certain excitement and a certain mystery about them. At its height, the area was ruled by kings and queens from 600-700. When belief in the system was lost, the city collapsed and was rediscovered in 1785. Although the site itself is large, most of the city has not yet been excavated and buried in the surrounding jungle.

After plenty of time to explore, we return to our hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
