➢ MUSEO DE CHOCOLATE
ENJOY MUSEO DE CHOCOLATE
This museum is located in a house that was built around the turn of the 20th century. It is entirely dedicated to chocolate as cocoa originated in Mexico and was first domesticated in Mesoamerica. Most of the exhibits provide historical insight, but some "sensory exhibits" are interactive (i.e., delicious chocolate tastes). The museum also hosts chocolate making workshops and other classes. Although MUCHO is one of the lesser-known museums in the city, it is becoming increasingly popular.

Tell me what is this place about
A small museum in a house from the turn of the century. It's one of the city's lesser-known museums, but it's growing in popularity.
How is the collection?
This museum is entirely dedicated to chocolate: cocoa comes from Mexico and was first domesticated in Mesoamerica. Most of the exhibits provide historical insight, but some "sensory exhibits" are interactive (i.e., delicious chocolate tastes).
And the exhibits?
There are some small, non-permanent exhibits throughout the year, always related to the chocolate or cocoa theme. The museum also hosts chocolate making workshops and other classes.
Who visits this museum?
This museum is an absolute secret tip from us. You simply must not miss this one during your stay in Mexico City.
What did you do with the crowd?
Since the museum is a relatively small niche, it is generally not crowded. Visitors tend to be more local tourists than foreign visitors.
How were the facilities in the practical tip?
You have to climb a flight of stairs to get to the exhibition room from the entrance of the museum, which makes it difficult to access.
Any tours worth trying?
The guide was fun and engaging and the insight was fascinating.
Gift shop: mandatory, inspiring - or skip it?
As you can probably imagine the gift shop is full of chocolate, and if you are like me the entire museum visit was like a huge deal to the point where you are actually allowed to have some chocolate.
Is the cafe worth visiting or should we just plan on going elsewhere?
The cafe is a nice open space and definitely worth a visit for a hot chocolate.
