The city of silver in Mexico,Enjoy Taxco in the colonial center

The center of the city is superbly preserved and has a great colonial feel to it. The streets are paved and steep; small alleys lead off the streets and some eventually break into quaint little squares.

Taxco is an authentic colonial city. It has been declared a National Heritage Site by the government and the building regulations here are strict. Check out the local gas station to see how much they care to make the place look and feel colonial.

At night the city lights up softly, giving the whole place a wonderful feeling and atmosphere. The lighting, coupled with fewer people when day-trippers leave, changes the ambience of the city as it becomes more relaxed and romantic.

Taxco also has several notable churches; The most magnificent Parroquia de Santa Prisca is located in Plaza Borda (the main square) and its pink brickwork is revered around the world. The interior is also great: admire the gold-covered altars and the exquisitely sculpted figures. There are seven other notable sanctuaries from the colonial era: the Capilla de Santa Veracruz, the Capilla de la Santisima Trinidad, the Capilla de San Miguel Arcangel, the Capilla de la Virgen de Guadalupe, and the Ex-Convento de San Bernadino de Siena.

Ex-Hacienda San Juan Bautista

This is an old ex-hacienda named after John the Baptist that now houses the School of Earth Sciences (a trip to the Ex Hacienda de San Juan Bautista Guerrero State University) and a museum. 20 minutes from Taxco de Alarcón is the Ex Hacienda San Juan Bautista, one of the few medieval-style buildings in Guerrero. You cannot miss this great adventure! This farm is located north of the famous town "La Meca de la Plata", hidden or camouflaged between the hills of the region. Plus, this architectural remnant is more than 400 years old ince it was completed in 1543. This large medieval castle preserves the characteristics of a farm in favor of metal and has a complex intramural hydraulic system, whose route began from the main aqueduct and led cyclically through the mills for the stones until it finally reached the inner courtyards with ponds. where mercury was added to the stones to extract the silver. The charm of Taxco de Alarcón is not concentrated on a single facet, but remains dosed and varied in this magnificent city.

Cristo Monumental

• The monumental Christ awaits you! The Cristo Monumental (Christ Monument) opened in 2002 and is now one of the most famous landmarks of Taxco and an exceptional lookout point. On the Cerro de Atachi stands the towering statue of Christ with outstretched arms. The statue itself is three meters high and stands on a pedestal. It looks like a protection symbol over Taxco. You can walk (you need to be fit for the steep climb) or take a taxi to the monument, at the top of Cerro de Atache there is the monumental statue of Christ of Taxco, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the magical city you can see the whole city and of course the Christ, a great architectural work that reaches a height of 5 meters. Construction began in January 2002 and was completed in September of the same year under the responsibility of the federal government. The statue of the monumental Christ faces Taxco from above with open arms as a guard and is one of the most visited attractions such as the Cathedral of Santa Prisca.
