America Vacation EPIC ALASKA
Itinerary
DAY 1: ANCHORAGE
Arrive in Anchorage, and unwind from a day of travel at the centrally-located Hotel Captain Cook. Take in the views of Cook Inlet and the Chugach Mountains, and enjoy an award-winning meal at the Crow’s Nest Restaurant. Or, walk out the door and get to know this classic Alaskan city first-hand – we’ll give you loads of recommendations!
DAYS 2-6: BACKCOUNTRY LODGE NEAR KACHEMAK BAY AND HOMER
Catch a quick flight to Homer, then a float plane to the dock of your first lodge, Tutka Bay Wilderness Lodge, a jumping-off point for days of exploring by land and by sea. Choose from an array of daily activities – wildlife viewing, fishing, hiking, and boating – and delight in your stay at this all-inclusive lodge, where active, relaxing, delicious, fresh, wild, and free converge.
DAYS 7-11: BACKCOUNTRY LODGE INSIDE WRANGELL-ST. ELIAS NATIONAL PARK
Fly back to Anchorage and regroup for the next leg of your adventure, to Ultima Thule Lodge, a rustic, family-owned-and-operated lodge in the middle of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, accessible only by plane. Inspired each day by panoramic mountain views – and wanting to get closer! – take a bush flight to pristine destinations for fly-fishing, hiking, wildlife-viewing, rafting, canoeing, mountain climbing, paragliding, and summer dog-sledding. Share stories around the dining table at day’s end, and sleep well.
DAY 7: ANCHORAGE
Head back to Anchorage and spend the night in the heart of the city, walking distance to restaurants, and within easy distance to the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail.
DAYS 8-10: BACKCOUNTRY LODGE NEAR LAKE CLARK NATIONAL PARK
Fly by floatplane to the shores of Crescent Lake, for a wonder-filled stay at Redoubt Mountain Lodge.
