Gorilla trekking

11th day Gorilla trekking
Today you will experience a unique highlight of your trip. You will visit the last mountain gorillas on earth. The chance of encountering the gorillas is very high here, the almost close encounter with the gentle giants is deeply moving. This morning you will get up very early to prepare for the upcoming gorilla trekking. Please don't forget to bring your necessary personal gear for spotting the rare mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences in the world. The trek can take up to 8 hours, but it is well worth the effort. There's no telling how far you'll have to walk to find the animals.

The trek first goes to the previous night's roost and from there you follow the tracks of the gorillas to their whereabouts. Since the gorillas do not follow the trail network, significant parts of the route have to be covered off the beaten track through the steep mountain rainforest. You will be guided by an experienced park ranger. He will tell you interesting facts about fauna and flora and the way of life of the gorillas. In the afternoon you can relax in the accommodation and process the impressions of the morning. Alternatively, you can take a walk to a village of the native Batwa Pygmies (optional). You will return to your accommodation in the evening. Or you can enjoy a nature walk (optional) to Munyaga Waterfall, this enchanting waterfall is located in the heart of Bwindi Forest.
